As regards the satellite data:
My understanding is that the whole issue with global warming is because of the greenhouse effect from the increasing CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. Now, the point is that the visible and UV radiation from the sun comes down to the earth from the sun and warms the earth's surface. Normally the heat is able to escape back up through the atmosphere, but now it is increasingly being trapped by the CO2. Right? Well, a satellite, I assume, measures the temperature by measuring the IR waves coming up to the satellite from the earth. Isn't the whole point of the greenhouse effect that those waves can no longer travel up and out into space? How high up are the satellites? Wouldn't you expect them to read an incorrectly low reading under greenhouse conditions?
Makes me wonder how high up they run those weather balloons.
