When I was a young thing (Somewhere around the precabrian era!) Picture windows and sliding galss door became fashionable, and bird started hitting them left, right and center. Observant people note that if a decal in the shape of an owl was apllied to the window or door, the birds would avoid it. In fruit orchards and gardens here you can find large round eye-shaped items hung about to scare birds off; they are very effective. It might be interesting to simply paint eyes on the blades or towers as a ward to encourage the birds to go elsewhere. That, and not putting up towere/windmills in the major pathway of the birds' flight. After all, you wouldn't build a candy store or a football stadium in the middle of a superhighway, would you?
