Woman convicted of shoplifting sues store for pursuit

EVERETT, Wash. – A woman whose daughter died in a car crash as they fled from supermarket workers who accused her of shoplifting has sued the store for unspecified damages.
The case was filed in Snohomish County Superior Court earlier this month by Anita Marie Durrett, 42, of North Bend, who faces sentencing May 14 for vehicular homicide.
Both cases stem from an episode June 9, when investigators say Durrett walked out of an Albertson's store in Woodinville without paying for $266.16 in groceries.
