We will switch quickly to hydrogen when (and if) ...
1. The Middle-East becomes politically unstable to the point that petroleum companies stock falls.
2. The petroleum companies figure out how to make more money from hydrogen than they do from petroleum.
3. The voting public gives a damn about something more important than Seinfeld or who Gary Condit slept with.
Don't count on number 3.
