I was hoping the free fall would eliminate the effects of gravity. Imagine you and an object traveling side by side at 1,000 miles an hour in space. You stretch out your hand and touch it, holding your own position, it would float away. Changing its direction would require very little force. However if the forward movement were to be re-directed towards you in a long curve, the force would be a 1,000 mile an hour crash. Since gravity redirects planets does it give them the force they have, possibly the only force.
