You can only do this if the "points" are not true points but circles with real diameters. Since they are circles in the original proposed problem, you can get away with proposing this solution. BUT, if they were true points and were on truly parallel lines, this would not work no matter HOW far you extend your lines. I'm speaking here of mathematical points in standard mathematical 3-dimensional space, of course.
