chaos theory is not 'the best i have to offer', it is one of the responses i had to your comment about how randomness could coalesce into some kind of order.
i have also read about complexity theory, information theory, and self-organization of organisms.
it is my leaning to consider many possiblities and many combinations of possibilities to explore the exigencies of the planet and its surroundings.
