Re: Cloned Pregnancy, Prompts Outrage (anyman)

I was actually having a tour around some labs at a cancer hospital in the North of England yesterday with regards to the work I do on clinical trials.

The lab technician there was explaining that for people with cancer, they take stem cell samples and freeze them at -80 (Celcius) for later transplant back into the patient, should they survive (to help the regeneration of bone marrow after all toxins have been excluded form the body). The shelf life of these frozen samples is 45 years...

Call me crazy and radical for stating this, but couldn't the samples from patients who don't survive the various treatments on offer be used for research? (with written informed consent, obviously).
