once it has happened, it is no longer a probability (no matter how infinite) it is a certanty.

sort of... It's probability changes to 1. in other words, it definitely worked that time. :) Everything in the past that happened has a probability of 1. That particular instance happened without a doubt. The next time, however, is a completely separate statistical probability, unless it's building on/working with the original sample. The gene error worked for this one, but it might not work for any others of it's specie, depending on how the chips fall.
