Ok, then 2 is the correct answer. Above a certain altitude 2 satellites in geosynchronous orbit would provide full coverage for a satellite/space ship in orbit around the earth (the Moon for example). So anything beyond that would be in line of sight for one of the 2 satellites. The only places not covered would be areas which are below line of sight relatively near the planets surface. For the TDRSS the zone of exclusion is centered just about over the Indian Ocean. It is roughly a cats eye shape.
