yeah...in economic terms, after the fashion of "planned obsolescence," it is a "planned replacement" strategy (or some such)...or perhaps, "perpetual purchasing" or...
whatever...
it's part of the plan
the technology is certainly there to make goods that are durable and very long lasting...but they won't...because it ain't good for the bottom line
