"Scientists back off on Agent Orange-cancer link" - "WASHINGTON - The U.S. National Academy of Sciences is retracting its conclusion from last year that Agent Orange increases the risk of cancer in children. The Institute of Medicine said Wednesday there is not enough evidence to link exposure to the herbicide with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). Last April, the institute said the available data led them to conclude children of veterans exposed to Agent Orange had a greater than average change of developing AML. Now, it says an error in one of the original studies "led its authors to incorrectly conclude that these children faced significantly greater risk of AML than the general population."
