(62.188.48.74)The House of Lords Scientific Committee are today expected to give UK Scientists the legal go-ahead to clone human embryos.
A controversial decision since such research is banned in the US and elsewhere.
The creation of cloned babies will remain illegal,
limited therapeutic cloning will not. This means that scientists will be able to create human embryos
in the lab, and 'mine' them for the particular cells they may need for use in revolutionary medical treatments.
Superman star, Christopher Reeve is now expected to visit Britain for treatment in the near future. US scientists have warned Pres: Bush to expect a potential brain drain from the US to Britain, unless
the House of Representatives relaxes restrictions.
