this is a very interesting article.

it seems to me that most of the problem of communicating new science ideas at the present time is the result of the inability of an unknown scientist to publish a paper.

now that some papers are acceptable on the 'web', it may be less of a problem to have non-university associated scientists publishing.

i am most familiar with Mendel, who published in a relatively obscure journal, and of McClintock, who was not recognized for many years. she, also, did not always publish in the most popular journals, but confined some of her publications to small journals.
