Even that assumes that gas taxes would pay for the entire military rather than just that portion dedicated to securing our access to oil. I'd say, off hand, that were oil not an issue, our military would not be significantly smaller, perhaps 20% less in a liberal administration.
Additionally, as I said, it’s really just moving the collection point from the 1040 form to the gas pumps. That is in effect a liner usage-tax system – rich pay the same percent as poor. I find that fundamentally better personally, but I’m a bit surprised that Dan does as well.
Go figure – Dan’s a closet republican.
