Not defensive. Merely pensive. A quarter of a century ago, other people's works were required reading, and Lewontin was a blip on the event horizon. Much has happened since then, and I have been through many changes.
It's a hundred miles to the nearest library that takes Scientific American, even, and I don't have a subscription. And nowadays my time is taken up more with Science Fiction than Science. It is to this forum I come to refill my meagre cup of scientific knowledge. Lately the well has been a bit dry, and I keep getting sand with my libation. The grit sticks in my craw a bit, but I'm adapting to the diet.
