A story on Phys.Org (Neanderthals disappeared from the Iberian Peninsula) quotes a report that new dates for the last Neanderthals in the Iberian Peninsula were around 43,000 years ago. They are also saying that the Neanderthals died out in Europe about 39,000 to 41,000 years ago. I'm not sure just how good those dates are. Previously I have seen a lot of reports that there were some Neanderthals were around until around 30,000 years ago. In fact I have seen reports that gave the latest date at 27,000 years. And that was in Spain. I'm not sure just how to take this report.
