Everything you ever wanted to know about nothing
This is from the "Starts With a Bang" blog. It is a guest article by Sabine Hossenfelder. Of course I kind of hate to offer this one. It will undoubtedly touch off another long discussion.

Thanks for the link Bill. Lack of time - certainly not lack of interest - has prevented me from following up on it so far, but I hope to do so very soon.

Hi Bill, I’ve just read the article, and liked it. I tried to leave a comment, but Ethan’s site is undergoing maintenance at the moment.

I thought some of the explanations were good and lay-person friendly, but I think they would be best read in conjunction with Matt Strassler’s article at:

http://profmattstrassler.com/2011/10/10/virtual-particles-not-particles-at-all/

You will be relieved to know that I do not intend using this as a springboard for endless discussion about nothing – or even infinity. smile

There never was nothing.
