Here is a link to the The Oculus Rift web site. There was a story about it in the latest Wired magazine (June 2014). The author is really excited about it. The thing about it is that when you are using the Oculus Rift you are totally immersed in the scene it is showing you. Older VR units had problems with the field of view and with head movements. The field of view was less than the users field of view and it was obvious that you were looking at something. There was also a serious problem with motion sickness when the user moved his/her head. This was because of a delay between the head movement and when the picture caught up. The brain didn't handle that at all well. The Oculus View has a much larger field of view and much faster processing of the movement of the head, so that the picture follows naturally. That means that when you turn your head what you see immediately changes to the correct view for that head angle. You can also make physical movements with your body. That means that you can crouch, turn, jump and do a lot of other things that you can't do with the older VR headsets.

They expect to have production models out sometime in the next year. Price looks as if it is going to be in the several hundred dollar (US) range.
