Very interesting, Paul, Thanks for sharing. Does this mean you concede that the Earth is more than 6,000 years old? :-)

I think using foraminifera to serve as a temperature proxy, and analysis of trapped air in the ice cores, serves to pretty well tie together the records to show the cyclical nature of the glaciation in North America. It doesn't serve to answer the question of what caused the ice to advance and retreat, but it gives us some idea of the temperature and atmospheric composition during those events. At least we can know that it wasn't anthropogenic. Unless prehistoric man was a lot more advanced and capable of putting CO2 in the air than was previously thought.

thanks Amaranth

I dont ever recall believing the earth was only 6000 years old
perhaps its my belief in God that has led people to assume that I did.

even though I have many times posted an image of a graph that shows the temperature and co2 fluctuations over several hundred thousand years.

it is my opinion ( based solely on the ice core data )that
there were advanced civilizations on earth during each of
the last few ice ages during the 11,000 year or so period
of warm climate between each of the recent recorded ice ages.
