Very interesting. I wonder if anyone is working on a way to use this knowledge to produce a quantity of hydrogen sufficient for large scale fuel cell use.

Thomas Rauchfuss is trying to figure out how to apply the same chemistry the bacteria are using to produce hydrogen from acid in large quantities.

Sounds like they've got the answer. If someone with some money, like the engegy companies, were to get behind this research we would see a massive change in our fuels.

It's too simple. Mother Nature has been doing it for eons. Thus it cannot be patented. There's no gimmick that can be used to make money, so no research will ensue. It will be a dead end unless someone can figure out how to make money off of it.
