UK scientists have won permission to create a human embryo that will have genetic material from two mothers and one father.

This is interesting because, back in October 2003
China stated that they had created a Human Embryo
using three parents.
This technique has been banned by the USA and the UK since 1998 (see below)

However now the UK has decided the use of three parents to produce a Foetus can go ahead.
Apparently UK scientist were given permission on a 'technicality'.
That is by removing the Nucleus from the Mother with a bad inherited mitochondria disease, and then replacing the nucleui into mitochondria from a disease free woman, and then fertilising same. Resulting in a Human free of disease.
The 'technicality' being that, since no human foetus was used the proceedure could go ahead.

***My preliminary thoughts are:-
Producing disease free Humans may well sound a worthwhile project (for those that carry an bad inheritable disease) But the very long term reproductive effects of the 'Triple Human' (for want of a better word), is unknown, .....since this new 'Triple Human' will now be carrying his or her inheritable genes to procreate, forever. For better or for worse.
