Eta Carinae may explode at any minute. Previous eruptions have generated huge gas cloud.

At any minute. I suppose that's a cosmological 'any minute in the next 100,000 years' smile

Belelgeuse might beat it to the bang:

That would be a whopper too. It's a red giant with only 10% the mass of Eta Carinae, but it's also only 6% of the distance.
