Having "...proof of principle and the demonstration that this works..." is a great achievement. Very promising from the viewpoint of the disabled. (Maybe it will also turn out to be the primitive dawn of a broad development in direct mind-to-mind communication)
I'm very curious to see where this tech will be in 5 and 10 years out. I'm also wondering whether it might be useful for learning about certain kinds of pathologies.
