They may be cold-blooded, but some lizards have warm personalities and like to socialise, a new study shows.

A behavioural study reveals that lizards have different social skills: some are naturally inclined to join large groups while others eschew company altogether. The discovery of reptilian personality types could help ecologists better understand and model animal population dynamics, say the researchers involved.

Another reason to reconsider the self-anointed superiority of homo sapiens.

It is often unappreciated the advanced nature of cold blooded creatures including of course lizards.
As mammals we consider mammals and warm blooded creatures as the pinnacle of evolutionary life forms.
Cold blooded creatures have many advantages and are better suited in many ecologies.
Not having to maintain a metabolism means that cold blooded creatures are much more economical in energy use.
The can live and prosper easily in climatic situations where warm blooded creatures can not.
As well like a crocodile during the dry season of no prey in Africa they can lie dormant for motnhs without food or water supply necessary .
We give mammals too much credit for being the highest form of life.

As well the prevalence of insects should be a testament to the cost effective and efficent nature of cold blooded metabolisms in diffirent and inhostipitable enviornments.
