SPAMVAMPIRE seems to be as much as effective as the now disabled lycos screensaver (especially if millions of users start to use it).

So, spread the word to everyone you know about this powerful tool! This tool cannot be silenced by political pressure from spammers!
Uh, how can we know that this software is virus-free and compatible with all systems (Unix, Linux, PC, Mac, et al?

How can we be sure it isn't carrying spyware?

Yep, you got it, my son is off to Karate class tonight and I'm home alone. ;-)
Well, you got the source code:

http://www.hillscapital.com/antispam/spamvampiresource.htm

You have to edit the last part to enter your targets and then store it as an html file. Then open the file as you would open any other webpage.

You have to replace the dummy targets and replace those by your targets. E.g. I wanted to attack the sites www.onlinereplicastore.com which has an image stored at www.onlinereplicastore.com/p/rolex/RX321-NP0-small.JPG and the site www.moreupto.com which has an image stored at www.moreupto.com/happy.jpg

The last few lines of the code in my case looks like:

// Try to keep the number of images low, go after larger but fewer images.

["www.onlinereplicastore.com","/p/rolex/RX321-NP0-small.JPG"], ["www.moreupto.com","/happy.jpg"],

0];

--aImageList.length; // Remove the dummy entry
main(aImageList.length, aImageList);
delete aImageList;

The first line is the last line of the instruction telling you what to do and after that you enter the targets in the form ["target1", "image1"], ["target2", "image2"],...,0]

The last element of the list is the zero (don't forget the comma's!).
I found some more tools here:

DDoS against Spammer Websites

Despite the negative comments, I think that such tools are necessary to root out spam.
Just a question. Why not send all these idiot spammers in jail instead of trying to make a soft-solution conter-offensive ?

Jail them all and throw away the keys.

That could be difficult. You have to find them first! I find it suspicious that just when the Lycos screensaver was having effect, some ISPs and the anti-spam industry were all of a sudden having all sorts of objections.

ISPs and the anti-spam industry would lose a lot when spam is rooted out! Spammers cause a lot of bandwith to be used and the ISPs profit from that(they may hijack computers, but someone has to pay for the traffic). And all those computer experts writing sophisticated anti spam filters will have to find an new job when Spam is finally eliminated.

Instead of appeasing the spammers by using filters, it may be better to go on the offensive and attavck the websites advertised (spamvertised) in the spam mail.
Not to mention the fact that if one is able (physically and legally) to block spam, the advertising industry would suffer a very heavy blow. And not only them, but retail industry also.Spamming is the necessay evil for a lot of economical activity.

Think about it Kit_Kat. If one, I mean individual, is given both the physical means and the legal means to block whateach one deems to be spam, you could also block I don't know, say the ads from your local ISP. Suddenly their life becomes more complicated, their earnings will drop, etc.So they will fight against it with all their ammo.

Think also in perspective. Advertising has been annoying for decades now, and yet instead of being regulated somehow in the sense of preventing it for those who do not desire it, you cannot watch a movie without it, cannot see a show without it, cannot go see a game without it, etc. So what do you think the outcome for internet spamming is?
The outcome is that all the Spammers that subscribe to double-opt-in religion (see: Thorlord) get to burn in a special hell with no Viagra, penis enlargement, or "hot babes that want you" "right now!!!11". Forever. And they don't get broadband, either.

:rolleyes:
Pasti, I have to disagree. TV commercials ARE regulated as to what kind and how many can be shown during any given show. More commercials for syndicated shows (less actual show-time), and less for original programming. In fact, some shows have even been viewed recently on major TV stations virtually commercial free (sponsored by one entity and VERY expensive to accomplish)

I am aware that they are regulated. But I was refering to them in the context of spam. And with all the regulations, I still do not have the option to turn off advertising on my TV at my own will. Sure, I can subscribe to channels where there are no commercials, for a stiffer price, but that does not solve the problem I am talking about.
I am aware of the argument that commercials in fact mean lower prices for subscribers, but such arguments circumvent the roots of the issue. Ads are the necessay evil so to speak, for anyone who would like to watch TV, even if one doesn't really want to have those ads.

So why would one think that internet spam will be regulated any different, say according to the wishes of all those who would like to have NO SPAM WHATSOEVER in their mailbox. Think about the public computer stations in Malaysia.

On SpamVampire, is there a UNIX version of that that can be found? There are some of us that don't use Windows natively present. Not to say I don't use Windows, just that I don't use it natively.
