Just as we have 3D picture TV's, would it be possible to add 3D sound to the TV, so that sounds could be heard coming from different points in the 3D volume?

We've had pretty good 3D sound since the mid 20th century, Isaac. My valve amplifier gave a pleasing stereo image, back in the 60s. These days we have 7 channels available. There are plenty of surround sound systems for home cinema, for whoever has the space and the wherewithal to install them.
