phys.org - Do it yourself and save: Open-source revolution is driving down the cost of doing science

An article on how science labs are building their own equipment and saving big bucks over buying it from a manufacturer. There is a large community of people developing all kinds of stuff for all kinds of things that you can build for yourself, cheap.

for instance a hotplate , you can build one for around $6.00

you can use a pipe heater to heat things in a test tube for around $3.00...

you can build a centrifuge from an old 10 speed bicycle.

Come on! People have been doing their own science on SAGG for years! laugh

Lies they have been doing for infinity Bill S :-)

Orac, you know better than that. "Have been doing" implies continuity, which involves linear time.

Come to that; "are doing" also implies continuity; so what do we have to say?

In eternity, everyone's personal science "is"?

Bill S-- Do you mean to imply that 'eternity', 'continuity' and 'infinity' are terms that are perhaps indistinguishable from one another?
