Some of you may be interested in this. You may be used to seeing icebergs but most of us here are not. Nice pictures of ice bergs in NZ waters:

More reported today. Some bigger.

And this. Large icebergs here during the last ice age (followed by some local politics but I'm sure you can ignore that):

What is now a tourist attraction ... will possibly soon be seen as a portent something far more ominous.

I guess you were interested in this comment from the article then:

'But scientists have been reluctant to blame global warming.

?We?ve been monitoring these things for such a short time, it?s impossible to see. To say this is unusual and related to global warming is just not possible,? Paul Augustinus, an Auckland University glacier expert, told the New Zealand Herald earlier this month.

?It?s a fairly frequent occurrence; it?s just unusual for such large bergs to get so far north,? he added.'

Typical though of serious science. I know very few that don't hedge their statements to avoid looking the fool.

That is part of why, when I see the likes of JLowe criticizing CSIRO, I react as I do. I know perfectly well two PhDs at CSIRO would not stick their necks out unless remarkably sure they wouldn't be, figuratively speaking, cut off.
