There are 2 causes for the fumes in those stories. One says it is due to the meteor disturbing gases in the crater already, whilst the other talks of the "ordinary" meteor melting and thus producing the fumes. Interesting to speculate which is correct--or perhaps a bit of both.

My fellow readers, I have been following this supposed real meteor crash in Peru along with a learned friend.. I have attached an address where you can see some of what has not been shown to you on the news... Please break away from the rest of the country (USA) in trying to put your belief in THE SYSTEM away and start to ask questions that matter. Respectfully Tetlow http://www.impactglassresearchinternational.com/http://impactglassman.blogspot.com/

Yes, thought I remembered that. Never did see anything of the awaited "detailed reports from Peruvian scientists".

Tetlow- for the benefit of the thick like me.. what is the point that is being made? Is it a bomb or a satellite that you are implying made the crater? I thought it was the gas that was unusual.
In fact there is a precedent for big lumps of things flying out of the ether here in Oz. Skylab broke up and huge bits (as well as the small), landed in West Australia some years ago. I guess it happens. I thought the Peru thing was a meteor, and I find that quite scary too as there had been no warning as there usually is with satellites. In fact one is due to re-enter soon, and once again the thought is that it could end up in Oz! Apparently they aim for the Pacific--I find it rather un-reassuring that their aim is so bad!

I had been expecting some follow up concerning the the nature of the gas issuing from the crater, but I guess the media lost interest. Did anyone see any other news about it? Incidentally, I'm sure you read about the car that got hit in 1992: http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap021118.html
