THE STUPIDITY OF CUPIDITY--the inordinate, or eager desire, especially for things and power--a passion for gain and power over others, regardless of the needs of others; in short, avarice or greed.

The word comes from the Latin, cupere, desire. Cupid--from the Latin noun, Cupido, was the Roman god of love--was the son of Mercury and Venus, and is identified with the Greek god Eros, from which we get our word erotic.

Cupid is usually represented as a winged baby boy with bows and arrows.

Needless to say, desire held within moral, ethical, loving and natural bounds, and guided by philia (friendship) and agape (respect and good will for all, including enemies) is good. Greed is not good!

Any examples you have of cupidity will be helpful.
