A better way to mix science and spirituality than ID.

A still better way would be with birth control.

Better to deal with the core issue rather than its symptoms.

birth control? You mean genetic testing into who may have a neurologic propensity towards spirituality and eliminating them in uetero before their little bodies are able to sense pain?

No I mean cut the human population on the planet to that which is sustainable and leads to a decent quality of life.

Eco-nonsense aside ... there are too many of us and most of our current and near-term problems are the direct result of over-population. Lets just take a look at a handful of the layers on the onion all of which have population at their core.

1. Overfishing
2. Soil depletion
3. Highway creation and maintenance costs
4. Pollution (water, air, landfills, etc.)
5. Dependence on foreign energy sources
6. Education costs and classroom density
7. Law enforcement costs

That's enough of a handful to make the point. We keep trying to handle each symptom of the disease as an independent matter. When at their core all directly relate to population related issues.

I totally agree. We should start promoting birth restraint. If every couple only had one offspring that would help. Not forced, understand, but promoted. Encouraged.

Forced!

Let those that grab the most resources pay for them.

1. More children ... more taxes for schools
2. More people in the house ... more money for trash pick up and sewage
3. More money to support parks
4. More money to support the police
5. More money to support hospitals
6. More money to support higher education

Tax them into using birth control and give tax breaks to those willing to be responsible.

Don't worry. We already have this in England. We cannot consider having another child because it cripples us financially.

We pay $1141 per month for childcare for our little Bathsheba-Anamalech (good Biblical name).

We cannot possibly think of paying $2000 per month for another child. Even when she goes to school the pre and after school costs are harsh, but we could afford to have another then. But with the growing cost of living in the UK (gas prices have gone up by 66% in 2 years - and everything else seems to go up way above inflation) it is getting harder for average earners to cope.

But if you are on welfare you can pop them out one after another and the government will foot the bill. A lone-parent household raising two children on welfare costs the public purse more than $19300 a year in benefits alone. Britain is the lone parent capital of the world with 3.2 million children raised in single parent households. Now many of those will work, but I am talking about the huge Chav population of undereducated (sound a bit like Uncle Al here but call it as it is) school children who have children at 16 and their children will have children at 14 etc. They will never work because they don't have to and for every extra child they have, the better off they will be.

Most working couples or lone parents I know have just one child these days.

BTW my daughters real name is Natasha , just joking about the Biblical name smile

Regards,

Blacknad.

There should be a law against setting your children up for a life of having to spell their name.

Natasha aka Natalya if there are any Russians in the neighborhood.
