Check this out-

http://www.divulgence.net/

Pretty weird stuff, something from the realm of pseudo-science, I guess. Have any of you heard of this?

Does it have to be spelt out to anyone in this world why such stuff is total garbage?

That's quite some burden Uncle Sam is carrying.

it would take an enormous force to offset the earths axis to such a degree.

this has been used to explain Global Warming , its sad that this type of stuff influences peoples opinions instead of the real culprit , our energy usage.

think of a gyroscope and the force needed to change its axis of rotation !! the angular momentum of the earth as it rotates would be almost impossible to overcome unless struck by a similar sized object.

also for those of you who are worried about the
(supposed niburu's) gravitational effects offsetting the earths axis of rotation
it may offset the earths orbit but should not affect its axis strictly due to gravitational attraction.

there may be some tidal effects and even some crustal effects
depending on the closeness , but our main worry should be the Climate. !!! something we can fix !!!

Yes, Paul, it is. But this particular item is an astoundingly moronic piece of internet nonsense. As such it's not so bad, since it doesn't resemble science to any noticeable degree, and most people should be able to recognise concentrated idiocy when they see it. What's far worse is pseudoscience at the other extreme, elaborately dressed in the garbs of genuine science. That's not so easily dispensed with by the non-expert and, unfortunately, the internet's full of it.

If we want to keep a sure footing, we have to take with a pinch of salt (and sometimes a good deal more than a pinch) all that we read on forums and elsewhere, unless the source is a known authority on the subject.
