Did you know that you are more likely to die by falling down than you are to freeze to death? Last night I was convinced that all people outside here in NYC would freeze. Apparently it was colder here than on the surface of MARS! Anyways- saw this article and thought it was interesting since everyone is all hyped up on dying in natural disasters.

Not everyone is hyped up on dying in natural disasters. Some of us are more concerned with the avoidable one's created by our fellow inhabitants of this planet.

Right now the average person in Sri Lanka or Aceh has more to fear from their fellow citizens than from the ocean. Check the death tolls from their "civil" wars as compared to that from the tsunami.

When there is a tsunami we send aide. When there is a war we send weapons. We are a very strange people when viewed objectively. We don't give a damn about the people ... just how our response will make us feel.
