On Phys.Org there is a story about a company that is considering buying an unfinished and abandoned nuclear power plant. They want to install one of their new design generating plants. The great idea is that the plant will be extremely efficient. It will use electromagnetic induction energy to generate steam to produce electricity. This immediately raises one big question for me. Where will they get the electricity to run the electromagnetic induction system? The story doesn't say much about that, it just gives the basic information and a link to the companies web site. I followed that link and didn't really see anything that explained this. In fact it looked like a lot of hand waving, such as scammers frequently use.

The story is at Nevada company to pursue purchase of unfinished nuke

indirectly... must mean that the electromagnetic induction energy fields are used by another process that heats the water.

have you ever measured the magnetic fields that surround a
rotating or energized electric motor?

perhaps their tech captures the normally wasted energy of a
electromagnetic field.

it may be that these wasted electromagnet fields can heat water
by energizing the atoms in the water.

you dont necessarily need heat to energize atoms.

do you?

ahhh ... yes

boiling water with a 9 (NINE) volt battery !!

As I understand it their system works pretty much like an induction range. You can, or at least could a few years ago, buy one for your home. The 'burner' is an induction coil that induces currents in the pan placed on it. This seems to be the same thing. So it still needs more energy to produce the steam than you can get out of the generator connected to the steam turbine. So there has to be another source of energy. That being the case, running it through another step to produce electrical energy is throwing good energy away.

And no they still haven't repealed the law of conservation of energy. You still can't get something for nothing.

a lot of work goes into the acquisition of coal or gas to fire
a power plant or to power any currently used electricity generator.

and any type of power plant or electricity generator would require
energy of some or many forms to be put into it before you can get
energy out of it.

an amount of work is required to move any object...

as I recall Tesla used a tiny device that set up a resonance in a
really large building causing the entire building to rock back and
forth and the work or energy that the device consumed was negligible
when compared to the work performed by the resonating building and
its entire contents as it swayed back and forth.

sort of like a portable pecan tree shaker that is strapped onto a pecan tree to shake the tree so that all of the pecans will fall from the tree to be collected.

a small weight is moved several inches back and forth or a unbalanced wheel is rotated to set up a resonance in the tree
that shakes the tree.

LOL , they have vanished from the face of the earth I cant find
them anywhere on the internet ... it looks like all the pecan
tree shakers now have large tractors attached to them.

the ones I have seen in operation was just a small device that
was strapped onto the trunk of a pecan tree and it had a small electric motor that drove the unbalanced wheel or the weight
that set up the resonance in the tree.

anyway the energy in the work that would normally be required to move the tree limbs back and forth in a rapid motion over a period of time is much greater than the energy that is used to power the tree shaker.

unless you attach it to a large tractor.

so you really cant get something for nothing ...
but you really can get more for less.

and the company may have found a way to get more energy using
less energy kind of like Tesla did.

Converting electrical energy to steam and then back to electrical energy is a losing proposition. You can never get as much electricity out as what you put in. Even if you could improve the efficiency from, say, 50% to to 99% it wouldn't get you a paying proposition, you would still be losing that 1%, and tacking more 9s on after the decimal point (99.99999...%) wouldn't help.

but the article didnt say that the process would be converting
electrical energy into steam...

it said this

Quote:
developed a system that uses electromagnetic induction energy fields to heat water indirectly and produce steam

so theres no direct conversion from electric energy to steam involved.

its probably converting the energy found in the electromagnetic induction energy fields into vibrational motion and the vibrational motion heats the water and makes the steam.

so if the video is right that uses the 9 volt battery to heat
water to 180 F is correct then they probably will be using a
similar set up only much larger.

heres a good way to think about the conversions.

if you lift a 1 pound rock to a height of 10 ft and then drop it
into the center of a large lake ... the rock will cause waves
that will propagate throughout the entire surface of the lake.

the energy to normally lift all the water that is uplifted
to only a few inches would be much greater than the 10 ft lbs
that was initially supplied to lift the rock.

possibly thousands of times greater.

no , you are wrong about that , as well.

its more likely that I am completely right.

but as I dont have the details of the process involved
I cant claim that I am completely right.
