if the vehicle your driving is a 4 speed

flat sail = 4 the strongest force.

3 = lesser force
2 = even lesser force
1 = lowest force

the angled sides will provide less push in the
direction of travel because of their angle.

angled sides will only provide for a means of
lowering your speed.

attaching the light source to the rear would work however
if you believe in the Einstein math and its denial of
physics your vehicle will overshoot your education or belief system and you may get lost in space.

think about a hydraulic piston.

tampering with the surface area of a piston will not
increase or decrease the force that the piston will
transfer from a pressurized fluid.

increasing or decreasing the cross section area
by increasing or decreasing the size of the piston is the
only way to increase or decrease the force that is transferred from a pressurized fluid using a piston.

ie...

1 psi fluid.

1 sq in surface area piston = 1 lb force
10 sq in surface area piston = 10 lb force
100 sq in surface area piston = 100 lb force

in your design your vehicle is pulling its motive force
behind it , which strictly means that the light emitted
from the light source will always be traveling AT the speed
of light , even as the vehicle approaches and overcomes
the speed of light relative to the vehicle and the medium through which it travels.

relative to the vehicle itself the light being emitted
from the light source never travels faster than the speed
of light and always pushes against the sail.

but try to get the egghead Einstonedians to agree with that
as they are stuck in their BS degreed fantasies.

the one labeled "fluid flow direction" wouldn't provide
any type of force in a direction but it would try to rotate.

but only because of the pipe resistance between the two
pipe sizes.

the larger pipe would allow for lesser fluid flow resistance
than the smaller pipe.

so you have a imbalanced wheel.

and the smaller pipe would try to move in the direction
of fluid flow more than the larger pipe would.

and you would need to have 2 of these attached on a shaft to
balance out the forces as it rotates or it will wobble.

I see where you show the small blue arrows where the pipe
size increases but that shouldn't cause a push in any direction because that push is counteracted by the water
pressure against the other surfaces.

remember that water does not readily expand so the only
force that can be utilized for motion is any force that can be taken from the resistance to fluid flow as the fluid flows through the different pipes sizes.

its not going to propel a space ship.

but your other one certainly would.
