http://www.census.gov/popclock/

The U.S. population clock.

One birth every 8 seconds
One death every 12 seconds
one international migrant every 44 seconds

timed for 600 seconds or 10 minutes

the U.S. population clock is adding 48 people every 600 seconds , resulting
in 0.08 people added every second.
1 person added every 12.5 seconds.

---,--3,800 start
---,--3,848 stop

48 people are added every 10 minutes.

---------------------------------------------------

The World population clock timed for 10 minutes.

-,---,-64,400
-,---,-65,656

1256 people are added every 10 minutes.

2.09 people added each second.
21.16 people added every 12.5 seconds.

The U.S. adds 1 person every 12.5 seconds.
The World adds 21 persons every 12.5 seconds.

thats a 21 to 1 ratio !!!

if you divide the worlds population minus the U.S. population
by the U.S. population you get
a ratio of 21 to 1

(WP-USP)/(USP)= 21

I find that to be amazing...

The news on population growth isn't all bad. A recent study from Spain Could Earth's Population Peak in 2050? reported in The Atlantic Cities says that world population may peak around 2050. That would have a large impact in the long term.

my amazement was that the U.S. population growth ratio seems to be linked to the rest of the Worlds population growth ratio.

that is amazing to me.

I'm not sure that 21:1 really has any meaning. It is one point in time, and will probably change with time. Here is a page that has a graphic of population for the more developed countries and the the less developed countries. Here is the graph that they show.

As you can see the more developed countries have pretty much gotten to a flat population curve, but the less developed countries are expected to keep pulling ahead.

So to improve the population problem the best thing to do is to come up with some way to help the less developed countries become more developed. They they will automatically start cutting back on their birth rate. And of course if you can come up with a way to do it that will be widely accepted you can earn a Nobel Prize.

the chart looks as if the "more developed countries" have a combined population of apx 1 billion !!!

and the "less developed countries" have the remaining
6 billion of world population!!!

I'm going to say that import tariffs would accomplish that.

why?

because import tariffs would develop a business structure
in every country , and business between every country would boom.

why?

because there would be more people making more money to buy
the products that every country produces.

and the majority of working people would not be strategically located inside countries with low wages.

because !!!!

each country could then produce its own products for its own people.

millions of companies would form almost overnight and poverty
would become a thing of the past.

why?

because the really rich folk would see that in order for them to increase their amount of money , they would need to finance
these millions of new companies.

and they will gladly do that.

growth is the major concern and by growth I mean growing money.
like growing grass , so much that you need to hire people to
maintain it.
