Source of non-renewable energy are found to be accumulated in nature over a very long time and cannot be quickly replaced when exhausted at their origin place. Coal, natural gas, petroleum, nuclear energy, etc. are the sample example of it.
->Fossil fuels
plants and animals, which dead millions of years ago, got buried beneath the earth. They got covered under clay and sand, which prevent oxygen of air from reaching the remnants of the dead plants and animals. due to high temperature and pressure inside the earth, those dead bodies got decomposed in the absence of oxygen. This result in the formation of coal and petroleum. They are fossil fuels.
why it is non renewable?

The fossil fuels are called non-renewable because there is no way to replace them under current conditions. As you point out in your post they were created from mostly plant matter which was buried in such a way as to not decompose in the normal way. There were a number of factors involved. For one thing this took place over a period of millions of years. Another thing is that the climate was quite different from what it is now. The climate at that time was conducive to the growth of large quantities of vegetation that was buried in the mud at the bottom of shallow lagoons.

Or climate is so much different today that we don't get the collection of plant matter that will be able to be turned into fossil fuels. We also don't have the millions of years for the plants to grow and die and be converted into fossil fuels. So as far as we are concerned they are non-renewable.

The closest thing we have to that sort of thing is in our garbage land fills. The things that we throw into them decompose and release methane. In many places we are now tapping those land fills to recover the methane for use as an energy source.

This may open a can of worms, but what about abiotic oil?

There are some that say tapped wells are filling back up. Like oil could be a condensate from the crust of the earth interacting with the core, or some such thing.

True or not, it's fascinating.

If only we could invent some sort of thing that could use, say steam or something, to run an engine. Maybe we could boil water with a renewable resource... like bio matter.
I call it: The steam powered go mobile! We could even make one big enough that it could run on rails, just like a train! But I digress, fantasy thinking.
