Having raised one child with ADHD I can say that the remedies do help to a certain extent. You can use drugs, or concentrated focused exercise, or both. They help to control the symptoms. Mainly it is IMHO a matter of growing up and growing out of it. That really doesn't sound very hopeful, but it's what appears to happen. A year or two of ritalin seems to be beneficial. Mostly it's a case of adjusting to self medication with caffeine, by coffee or cola drinks. It's not easy on the people around you, but there is hope if you survive your childhood that as an adult you can function better.
