US. Fox Extra News stated that California has effectivly legalised the recreational use of Marijuana today.

I did not realise that this is the 3rd State to effectivly legalise the use of Marijuana, Colorado and Washington have been legal for over a year.
The surprised for me was that State polls say that now 52% of Americans agree with this legalisation.
The State of Nevada will probably follow soon, while a Californian Company is working on a vending machine to dispense Marijuana in specialised shops?.

Fox News also state
- that the US crime rates have dropped in these associate States?.
- That the Mexican drug barons are now not so powerful as before....that they have decided to
cultivate Poppy's, to make up their lost revenue?.
- That the US Goverment will tax the sale of marijuana in the near future, as a means of raising money?

Could anyone living in these US Mexican border States - really tell us 'what is the real truth today?'

The bottom line is simple.
As far as the Federal Goverment is concerned, Marijuana is STILL ILLEGAL. i.e If the use of weed gets out of control....then the Fed will take the associated states to
court, as well as closing down the stores that supply.

Well done the Fed..A little extra control on Mary Jane, and Guns, should make the US a better place to live.

Final update on Marijuana ....as sold in USA.

SEATTLE (AP) — A bill introduced in Congress this Friday (today 12th April) would fix the conflict between the federal government's marijuana prohibition and state laws that allow medical or recreational use.

California Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher said his bill, which has three Republican and three Democratic sponsors, would ensure that state laws on pot are respected by the feds.

Eighteen states and the District of Columbia, now have medical marijuana laws, and two states, Washington and Colorado, last fall became the first to pass laws legalizing, taxing and regulating marijuana.

The U.S. Justice Department has not said how it intends to respond to the Washington and Colorado votes. It could sue to block legal pot sales from ever happening, if they conflict with federal law.

President Barack Obama has said going after marijuana users in states where it's legal is not a priority, at this time.
But several other measures have also been introduced to change U.S. marijuana laws, including moves to legalize the industrial production of hemp and establish a hefty federal pot tax in states where it's legal.
Any changes this year are considered a longshot.

It's never made sense to ban marijuana!

By the way I have never used it! but I think banning things like this just makes it more desirable.

I really believe that many things would be banned if they were discovered today. LIke---alcohol (yes, I've tried that! :-)), coffee (no) , tobacco (no), and probably bungi-jumping (NO).

Mike Kremer said..of course you are absolutely right, if you ban any mind bending drugs they will be more desirable (especially to teenagers)
Then, if you were the goverment, you can well understand why they would want a mind bending drug like Marijuana banned.
More so today, since modern methods using chemical enhancers make these type of drugs a 1000 times more potent.

When I was working in Iran (just before the revolution), You
could buy Hashish quite openly from dozens of squatting
street sellers.
But try to bring any alcohol, or contraceptives into the country, even just for personal use, you were fined and threatened with prison.
Its obviously more difficult for a Goverment to keep control where the drug can be grown in its country of origin.

And yet there are some countries where they have been using Hashish for thousands of years. Prehaps if one uses the natural plant drug in a 'normal' way, you can only inhale/or eat just so much? Then everyone was allowed?
Fifty years ago, of course rather importantly... there
were no dangerous high tech electronic machines for public use, to be maintained, by driving or flying ...in the past.

All drugs have +benefits, as well as negative aspects.
