In the Guatemalan Jungle a 1,200-year-old Calendar painting
has been discovered, which contradicts their 2012 Doomsday myth, shown on their other Calendars.

I have always thought it such a tragedy that the Spanish conquerors of Aztec & Maya Empires under General Pizarro, destroying every book and written word they could find. Destroying all traces of their religion and culture, even garroted the King after he filled a room with gold in exchange for his release.
The extinction of these civilisations should weigh heavy with the Spanish.....for now we cannot look back at their amazing Astronomical calendar which we believe showed the future movements of Venus and Jupiter and other heavenly bodies, well into the future.

National Geographic News May 10th 2012

In the last known largely unexcavated Maya megacity, archaeologists have uncovered the only known mural adorning an ancient Maya house, a new study says—and it's not just any mural.
In addition to the vibrant scene of a king and his retinue, the walls are rife with calculations, that helped ancient scribes track vast amounts of time. Contrary to the idea the Maya predicted the end of the world in 2012, the markings now suggest dates thousands of years in the future.

It was an interesting discovery though, and seems well preserved.

I think some of the problems with the predictions, apart from the usual, stem from the fact that there are so few of the original books (codex) around for us to compare. We may only have the doom-ridden lot and the other writings may prophesy a golden world of joy to come! We will never know--- or at least maybe we will know the doom predictors were correct if it all goes extremely pear-shaped on Dec 21st ( probably 22nd here in OZ).

I wonder if the Maya allowed for the Dateline!
