Me:(Kyra): Let’s talk about death, Andrea.

Andrea: Do we have to? It’s such a morbid subject and done to death really, sorry for the pun.

Me: I’ll try not to sound all “doom and gloom”, sorry about the cliché.

Andrea: Okay, but I really like the part in your Concept of the Whole and Threadism Theory (Part One), which says there will be greater awareness when our bodies die and we become more integral with the consciousness of the Whole. The ‘Whole’ being entirely everything.

Me: I still hope to believe that. But one thing about having a theory (apart from the fact that it IS just a theory and can be subject to change) is one gets to pontificate, so you will have to bear with me.

Andrea: Point taken, Kyra. Pontificate away.

Me: Paediatricians tell us that when we are babies, we still feel connected to (part of) our mothers even after we are born. Then there is a gradual growing away, to realising we are separate entities. This is how it has to be.

Andrea: Hang on a minute, isn’t your original theory all about being connected? About the dark energy and dark matter connecting us with, and being more than, the 5% material part? To quote you: “Scientists are saying that 25% of the Universe is dark matter and 70% of the Universe is dark energy - that is a whopping 95% of everything being this ‘dark’ stuff which may, or may not, co-exist. It is through us, with us and I think it may be us.”

Me: I’m not refuting that, Andrea. But in the early years while we are developing, we need to learn autonomy to function in this material body. The trouble is we become too disconnected, too much about ourselves. Let me digress a little here. At one time a child needed to be selfish to survive. Not so much today. And now there are some that say many children are feeling too entitled. By spoiling them, we are making too many Prima Donnas. Or Little Emperors. In danger of narcissist/elitist leanings. All about self and only caring about self. Opposite of connection.

Andrea: Lots of adults are like that, too.

Me: Of course, and that is my point really. These children grow into adults.
But we have to remember we are a tribe, meant to be like a flock of birds, or a shoal of fish. Supportive. There is truly power in numbers. We are connected, whether we are aware of it or not. One individual is not greater than the Whole but not lesser than the Whole either.

Andrea: I thought you were going to talk about death?

Me: I was getting to that.

Andrea: Death’s pretty confronting, isn’t it?

Me: Yes, but it’s like growing old, the alternative doesn’t seem as good.

Andrea: Like dying young?

Me: Precisely. And consider this; to die, first you have to live.

Andrea: What are you getting at?

Me: Well, without the privilege of life, you cannot have death. It’s all about where you put your focus.

Andrea: I don’t know how this is supposed to make me feel better about dying.

Me: It’s natural and, to some extent, healthy, to fear death. But think about it. If you never existed, you would never be aware, never be connected. And what if, as my theory says, death does open you to the total awareness of the Whole?

Andrea: That’s the part I really liked about your theory. The premise that after death, you may even be more aware, more conscious, than you are in this body.

Me: Anyway, death is not important. But our children are. They are the next frontier of awareness of being connected, and need to be part of the awakening which is happening.

Andrea: What do you mean ‘the awakening’? And anyway, what can we do?

Me: Talk, discuss, question. Go and see movie documentaries like I AM (Tom Shadyac). Like I said, an awakening is happening. Encourage high standards to live up to. And there is something that I believe is important to teach children to live by: compassion and empathy.

Andrea: I always thought the main thing was love.

Me: Yes, love is great too, but the meaning of love can be ambiguous. And there are many definitions of love and many shades of it, too. Agape, sensual, fraternal. Empathy and compassion are more direct. But you are right as well. So live by Compassion, Love and Empathy. This will naturally lead to supportiveness and consideration for our environment.
Anyway, to get back to my premise. When we are babies we need to find autonomy to grow. But then we need to find the connection to live and be fully alive.

Andrea: It sounds contradictive to me.

Me: Perhaps I shouldn’t have said ‘find’. Perhaps I should say ‘become aware of’.
The birds flying in formation are still individuals (see my first posting of The Concept of the Whole and Threadism – June 2009) but they have what I call Threadism, or connection through the Dark Matter and Dark Energy which ‘Threads’ them together with the physical (see-able) material.

Andrea: You are not talking about natural hereditary then? Being connected by humanity?

Me: Well not humanity exactly, although of course that also defines us (I believe Threadism is strongest amongst same-type species like birds and fish), but the connection of all things. It is really a continuation for there is no space between anything, because actually ‘nothing’ is not real. Everything is something, there are more of the things we cannot see: i.e. dark matter and dark energy. Solid space: a continuation in different degrees of density, energy and vibration.

Andrea: Wow. Solid space?

Me: Solid in the sense of fluidity.

Andrea: So, how could it have all come about? Who created it?

Me: Once again you are looking at it in a purely human way. Beginning and endings are a part of our existence. Time is lineal for us. Concepts are limited. But consider this. Time may be spiral and some things do not need to be created, they just are and have always been.

Andrea: In your theory you said time does not really exist.

Me: Yes, it exists for us, as we have created it. Or the concept of it. In the big picture beyond our complete understanding, it does not exist.

Andrea: So why say time is spiral?

Me: I said it ‘may’ be spiral. Rhetorical premise really. Looking at things laterally.

Andrea: Yes, Kyra, but theories are theories until they are proven. Do you have any proof?

Me: As I said in my first posting, only what I observe, such as synchronicity, which I think reveals Threadism.

Andrea: Can you give me an example?

Me: In Australia, before sophisticated telecommunication, the aborigines, working thousands of miles apart on cattle and sheep stations (ranches) would ‘know’ when a relative or loved one had died. They would ask the white-man boss for leave, to go to their family. After a while he stopped being astounded when he discovered they were always right, that one of their loved ones had passed away. Tribes have not lost this connective communicative ability. We ‘civilised’ people still have it to some degree - remember intuitively knowing when someone would call? (pre-mobile/cell phone days of course!)

Andrea: Anything scientific?

Me: On a scientific basis, the proof of dark matter and dark energy (the connective Threadism tissue if you like) is seen from the influence it has on gravity, causing the Universe to expand at a greater speed. And I think the collective consciousness of the Whole reveals itself in Karma, both retributive and reward, pushing humankind towards our authentic nature.

Andrea: It’s a lot to take in, can you summarise it?

Me: Sure:
1. Our children are our most important asset. To prevent them becoming vacuous, self-important, destructive adults we need to educate them about empathy, compassion and connective-ness, and how to be supportive of each other and all things.

2. We need to be observant, seeing the lessons Karma brings and the wonder there is in synchronicity. Scientific breakthroughs are important too. Science and spirituality are not separate.

3. We need to realise that we have limited human understanding; many more things are possible than we can conceptualize. But our capacity for knowledge is expanding.

4. Everything is really a continuation, for there is no space between anything because actually ‘nothing’ is not real. Everything is something, there are more of the things we cannot see: i.e. Dark Matter and Dark Energy. Solid space, but fluid and flexible.

5. There are some things that do not need to be created.

6. We should know the power there is in numbers. We are meant to live in tribes or extended families and be supportive of each other.

7. Remember spirituality opens our hearts, science opens our minds.

Andrea: I think you should also put up the basic concepts of your original theory.

Me: Good idea. For those who did not read my first posting in June 2009, here is the summary.

The Concept of the Whole and Threadism (condensed version) June 2009
Important: Please note, dark energy and dark matter are referred to as Light Energy and Light Matter, for aesthetic reasons.

1. We are all part of the Whole. Less the 5% physical: blood, bone, fur, feather bodies, minerals, gases and inert matter. Which we are learning to control.
2. There is no need for envy or fear of the future. No need for selfishness. We should look at everyone as the Whole.
Before I go on, I should explain (although you would already know this) that not everyone knows they are part of the Whole.

Andrea: But they still would be?

Me: Yes, but, like an arm that has gone to sleep because some of the circulation has been cut off, they are separate.

Andrea: But you said..?

Me: The arm with the circulation partly cut off has the blood, life force, still circulating. The arm is joined to the body but it feels separate and is not good for the body.
We can still acknowledge that it (for those unaware) is part of us but we need to do something about it.

Andrea: I see, make it/them aware.

Me: Yes, rub the circulation back (lol), support, understand. Or, in some cases, keep away.

Okay, 3. No need for extreme fear of death.
Death is not the big deal we thought it was. Although, of course it is very sad for those still in the physical 5%. But for We that die (shed shells) it is a greater awareness. And We are still joined to those loved ones by Threadism.

4. God is US, connected with the Whole by Threadism.
Light energy 70%, Light matter 25% and Outer shells (what is visible) 5%. Only the shells go back to stardust.

5. For the Whole there is no time, it simply IS.
We experience this life as we know it, for growth, interest and awe, for the good of the Whole. And to learn by our mistakes and triumphs, take notice of Karma and synchronicity, instinct and intuition. The Whole is evolving.

6. We may feel separate but this is so we can get the maximum benefit of being a living being. Synchronicity and Karma, instinct and intuition, show we are still connected by Threadism.

7. Just like the numb arm we are still part of the Whole, even if we are not aware.
A flock of birds seem separate but to themselves they are not completely separate. They are connected to the lead bird and he/she to them. One entity, many parts. When flying in formation this connection is obvious (they instantly move as one while each still has their own position and place) but it may be they have some sort of connection which is not so obvious at other times, too. So might all animals and insects and even plants. It could be species specific (this close awareness of the others). And we humans have this too. For example: when there is a short story competition or call for an anthology a lot of the entries/contributions will have the same theme. And it also explains other synchronicity. Let’s take this a step further, perhaps all life is connected (animals plants, microbes humans etc) and all death, as we know it, is connected as well.

8. In parting with the shell we become more aware, as we are awake to the greater Whole.

Andrea: Mm… interesting concept. Do you think it will catch on?

Me: Well, if I’m right, others of Light Matter know this already.

Andrea: And the Light Energy has always known.

Me: Precisely.
NB - I think we (95%) are as connected to the 5% as a musician is connected to a trumpet/ trombone etc. We blow breath (life) through it and the music we play is an extension and expression of ourselves.

Thanks for your spacing. It makes it so much easier to read.

Speaking of death, I like the old Woody Allen quote: A self-admitted hypochondriac it reported that he once said, "I am not afraid of death, I just don't want to be there when it happens ... Dying is one of the few things that can be done as easily lying down." Obviously it can be done in many other ways. Just last week, my wife and I--as part of the ministry of THE FAMILY LIFE FOUNDATION www.flfcanada.com --ministered to an older friend of ours the day before he died. He was 86 and had been a founding-member of the FLF Board IN 1973.

At his funeral--and it was a CELEBRATION OF A LIFE LIVED, not just about gloom and doom--which I conducted, his son told us that his father died while sitting in his chair the day after our visit. "Dad" he said, "ate a very good breakfast. When he finished, I asked him if he wanted anything else. He said yes, he wanted some yogurt. When I came back with it, it looked like he had fallen asleep in his chair. But, when he failed to respond to my voice, I soon discovered that he had died, peacefully. Your visit was a great help, thanks."

BTW, while looking for the Woody Allen quote I came across this:
Quote:
On Hypochondria: The Thrill of Fear
by Joyce Millman
NOVEMBER 14, 2008

Woody Allen once said, “I’m not a hypochondriac, I’m an alarmist.”

Boy, I know the feeling. As a lifelong hypochondriac, I go through periods where I turn myself into a human car alarm, my anxiety screeching on high alert, hypersensitive to the tiniest aches and pains, real or imagined. Sure, hypochondriacs are easy to laugh at.

And in my more lucid phases, I am acutely aware of how comical my intermittent health frenzies must look from the outside: the stomachache that must surely be colon cancer, the vertigo that whispers, “Brain tumor!” But I assure you it’s not funny living inside my head during those times when I am in the throes of a full-on hypochondria freak-out.

Hypochondria is the snowball that starts the avalanche. The genuine but not life-threatening health issue triggers the “What If?” worries, which gather momentum as they roll downhill, triggering more symptoms, real and imagined, finally exploding into panic, anxiety, depression or all three combined. When I’m fixated on my body, nothing and no one can convince me that I’m perfectly fine. Doctors respond with varying degrees of concern and patience.

I have been referred to specialists for all kinds of colorful (and, as it turns out, often unnecessary) tests; I have been sent off to shrinks; I have been gifted with lovely antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds, which I always understood as the doctors’ way of saying, “Get the hell out of my office and quit wasting my time.”

People with small imaginations don’t become hypochondriacs. It’s the mountain-out-of-molehill-makers among us who are ripe for the picking. I’ve always thought of it as an illness rooted in narcissism. We can imagine our own deaths only too vividly, but what really terrifies us is the knowledge that the party will go on without us. How dare it. ...

Thanks, Rev, as usual a very interesting, informative reply, and what a wonderful peaceful death your friend had. Thanks also for the witty, Woody Allen, quotes! They've given me a laugh for the day.

BTW, I forget who said it first, but I like to think that death is nothing more than a horizon, which is but the limit of our vision.

Here are some other famous quotes:

Kyra with that much imagination can I get you to write my science grant applications :=)

Trust me you talent is wasted.

Thanks, Orac, not wanting to sound like Pollyanna (but I guess I do) I’m hoping one or two readers will get something out of my concepts. A little peace of mind, or a different way of looking at things, perhaps. A good mind is always evolving, always questioning, always unsure. As Bertrand Russell once said, “Fools and fanatics are so sure of themselves, wise men so full of doubt.” He also said, “Many people would sooner die than think; In fact many do so.”
I’m reading AC Grayling’s The Good Book A secular Bible. He’s put together, in biblical type format, all the great teachings, musings and insight of the world’s many philosophers, past and present. It’s illuminating reading, and once again I feel a paradigm shift in my thinking.
Good luck with your science grant applications : -)
