The Japanese government has officially recognized that Tsutomu Yamaguchi, now age 93, is the only person to have survived two separate atomic bomb attacks. He was from Nagasaki, but was in Hiroshima on business when he was burned in the first a-bombing. Naturally enough, he wanted to go home. Which he did, just in time to be affected in the second atomic attack three days later. He is recognized as a result of filing for compensation for health problems related to the attack (details were not released).

I can't resist smiling because of the amazing unlikelihood of it, but I truly do feel sorry for the guy, and I am glad that he survived it all to make it to 2009 and age 93!
