Remember the beloved Larry Summers and how he got into trouble by wondering if all those thousands of IQ tests, and all those thousands of actual science guys, and all those thousands of scientific papers and inventions suggesting that men are a lot smarter at science than women,...well if any of that stuff might actually be true? Yes,its true! Men are smarter than women, always have been and always will be. Another question arises, tho:what about women themselves? How do "feminine" women (attractive ,feminine)compare to "masculine" women(not quite so attractive,man-hands,feminist,read Sappho Today magazine..)in higher math and science? Aside from Asians,is there a female scientist or mathematician who doesnt give you the willies????

Yes. I know a number of intelligent and frankly beautiful female scientists/ mathematicians who are quite feminine and don't read Sappho Today magazine or give me the willies. However, men who find intelligence in women highly attractive would be impressed by them. Little boys who are intimidated by intelligent women would take to whining and name-calling.

Many of the great geniuses among men have been ugly (Socrates, Steinmetz, Einstein) or effeminate (Turing, Da Vinci).

To whom, pray tell, are these women supposed to be attractive? Or not? Who cares? Certainly not the women. It is sad that anyone could post this rubbish, which incidentally is racist too. Please could someone remove it to the trash, or if that curtails free speech, perhaps a new and shameful racist and misogynistic topic area- to avoid contamination of the site and allow people to avoid it.

Actually I am sorry I dignified this trash with a reply. FF has said it all really, really well!.

Since when are "not quite so attractive" women necessarily masculine? You are throwing out a lot of stereotypes that may or may not be accurate. I'm not so attractive, but I'm definitely feminine. And I don't have "Man-hands" or read Sappho Today (if there is such a magazine). I read Scientific American and National Geographic and Discover. Does that make me masculine? I resent your implications, and I resent that you took the time of the forum to air your misogynistic views.

I generally find that those men who bring this sort of thing up in such obnoxious terms are not among the group that is particularly intelligent.

Usually, they have been rebuffed by a woman who is much smarter. Feeling weak and stupid they feel they can redeem themselves by posting anonymous inflammatory crap to the nearest forum they can find.

I can still delete it if you want. Just let me know.

I hate the idea of deleting stuff just because it's obnoxious.

The only thing I normally advocate deleting is spam and direct personal attacks.

OTOH, I'm not averse to you doing whatever you wish with your own forum. And maybe deleting it is the right thing. If the guy wants to talk about the subject without being a twit, he can always start a new thread.
