News broke in a UK newspaper yesterday
Its easily seen and photographed from space, since its a mile wide.
Helicopters have crashed into it, due to the down draught air swirl within the hole, from their blades

Fascinating and sad.

All the money to dig the hole ... but no money to fill it in.

An exact replica of what we see almost universally with so-called natural resource companies. They are happy to pay the cost of making a mess ... never a pence to clean it up again.

Prehaps it could be filled in over time using waste products?
Or even made into another 'Arecibo Telescope'

And Here is what I believe is the 2nd biggest man-made hole in the world.

Well it seems this is the biggest manmade hole in the World
A Rio Tinto Copper mine somewhere south of Salt lake City, Utah.

Its over twice the diameter of the Russian mine, and over 1/2 mile deep.
