Sediments extracted from the Antarctic seafloor show the world's largest ice shelf has disintegrated and reappeared many times in the past.

Fluctuations in the Ross Ice Shelf are revealed by an early look at cores drilled from the seabed underneath the giant ice slab.

The investigation is being carried out by scientists drilling near the US and New Zealand bases on Ross Island.

so what, Antarctica has seen an increasing and decreasing level of ice in the past? No seriously?? All natural??? Geez, for a minute there I thought that the amount of ice there would stay completely constant. Who would have thought that the amount of ice would naturally be increasing and decreasing over time.

Maybe natural variation of temperatures has something to do with it.

And what was the state of human civilization when it happened?

Of course it has happened in the past. And the relevancy of that to the quality of human life on this planet is precisely ZERO!

Given you are a professional gambler ... what are the odds that if it happens this time future generations won't want to lynch you for your attitude?
