I'll try to answer each in order.

1. "seen" is a relative term. That does not mean optically but rather more like "seeing" xrays or seeing gamma rays.

2. The universe seems to be have three primary constituents in terms of mass:
A. regular matter ~5%
B. dark matter ~25%
C. dark energy ~70%
