The movie "Interstellar" has inspired some of the up and coming programmers to look at programming physics which is fantastic.

What took super computers and many scientists to do in the movie they are attempting on the home PC and in my opinion a very impressive effort.

Even if you aren't into programming it's worth looking at the work and read the discussion.
