Now, the one thing we can be sure of, however you wish define God as being today, we are not talking about the God of the Old Testament. And yet the Old Testament is what most people in the West rely on for their definition of "God". I'm on your side if you simply wish to wean people off this definition. As far as I'm concerned you can call anything you like "God" after you've done that as long as you don't use this idea to justify unethical political decisions.
